Al recalcar el hecho de que el alcoholismo es una enfermedad, el estigma social que acompañaba a esta condición está desapareciendo ... Posiblemente, algún día los historiadores reconocerán que Alcohólicos Anónimos ha sido una aventura pionera en su campo, que ha forjado un nuevo instrumento para el progreso social, una nueva terapia basada en la afinidad entre los que tienen un sufrimiento en común, y que dispone de un potencial enorme para la solución de las innumerables enfermedades de la humanidad.”
